Vietnam and Japan are set to enhance their bilateral relations through expanded cooperation across multiple sectors, including diplomacy, security, trade, and technology. The initiative aims to bolster economic security and foster people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu emphasized Japan’s commitment to partnering with Vietnam to achieve mutual strength and prosperity. His remarks coincided with Vietnam’s 81st National Day, underscoring the importance of this alliance.
Highlighting the evolving nature of bilateral ties, Japanese Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki noted that the relationship has entered a new phase. She pointed out opportunities for collaboration in finance, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and energy, which she believes will support economic growth and contribute to regional stability.
From the Vietnamese side, Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu described the current state of relations as the strongest they have been. He acknowledged growing cooperation in areas such as science and technology, innovation, and the transformation toward green and digital economies. The development of skilled human resources in fields like energy and semiconductors was also highlighted as a key area of focus.
The Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is being strengthened by leveraging complementary economic strengths and building trust. Both nations are also actively working to enhance parliamentary exchanges and cooperation. Additionally, the significant Vietnamese community in Japan is seen as a vital link in fostering economic and social ties.
