Wall Street Surge and Oil Price Drop Boost Asian Market Gains

by admin477351

Asian stock markets experienced gains on Friday, buoyed by a strong performance on Wall Street and a dip in oil prices. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 0.8% in early trading, while South Korea’s Kospi saw a notable increase of 2.1%. Additionally, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and the Shanghai Composite both climbed by nearly 0.8%, with Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 edging up 0.1%.

This upward momentum in Asian markets followed a positive session in the United States, where the S&P 500 advanced by 1.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite surged by 1.7%. The drop in oil prices contributed to easing pressures on financial markets, with Brent crude falling 0.68% to $104.11 a barrel and U.S. crude decreasing 0.54% to $101.36 a barrel.

Investor sentiment was also influenced by the recent decision by the Federal Reserve to increase its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points. The Fed signaled the possibility of another rate hike later this year as it aims to achieve its 2% inflation target. This decision was reflected in the bond market, where the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note fell to 4.93% from 5.01%, thereby easing some pressure on equities.

In currency markets, the U.S. dollar showed strength against the Japanese yen, trading at 156.15 yen. Meanwhile, the euro held steady at $1.1480. These currency movements mirrored the broader market trends, as investors adjusted their positions in response to economic signals from the U.S. Federal Reserve and global oil price fluctuations.
