Rupert Grint is making a much-anticipated return to the magical world of Harry Potter, stepping back into the shoes of Ron Weasley for the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks Grint’s return to the role over a decade after the beloved film series concluded. The actor is set to join the stage cast for a 17-week stint starting in February 2027, bringing a familiar face back to fans of the series.

Grint, who starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in all eight Harry Potter films, expressed excitement about returning to the character of Ron Weasley, a role he’s cherished since his youth. “Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again at this stage of life,” Grint remarked. He noted that portraying Ron as a father at this point in his life adds a unique layer to the experience, blending the familiar with the new.

The news of Grint’s return follows Tom Felton’s recent performance as Draco Malfoy in the same Broadway show. Felton, another alum of the Harry Potter film series, is scheduled to continue his run through January. The stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which debuted in London in 2016, has captivated audiences worldwide, selling over 14 million tickets and generating more than $532 million in New York alone.

Grint’s stage career is not new; he made his Broadway debut in the 2014 comedy It’s Only a Play. Since leaving the wizarding world of Hogwarts on the big screen, Grint has continued to build his acting resume with roles in projects such as Knock at the Cabin, Charlie Countryman, and Nightborn. His return to Broadway as Ron Weasley coincides with the development of a new Harry Potter television series for HBO, aimed at introducing the iconic saga to a new generation.
