Japan’s Nikkei 225 index experienced a significant rise at the beginning of the trading week, climbing 2.5% by midday on Monday. This upward trend was mirrored by the broader Topix index, which increased by 1.2% during the same period.
Among the standout performers on the Nikkei 225, electronics manufacturer TDK saw its shares soar by 8%, while Seiko Holdings, the renowned watchmaker, enjoyed a 6.8% increase. These gains highlight the strong performance of Japanese companies in the electronics and consumer goods sectors.
In contrast, other Asian markets showed varied results. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index recorded a slight decline of 0.3%. Meanwhile, stock exchanges in mainland China and South Korea were closed due to public holidays, resulting in no trading activity in those regions.
