SAKEANI JAPAN Inc. is set to unveil “Kokushu Seijo,” a unique subscription service that intertwines the experience of enjoying Japanese sake and shochu with immersive audio storytelling. Launching in September 2026, this service will provide subscribers with quarterly deliveries of these traditional beverages, each paired with original audio programs narrated by professional voice actors. The audio content will delve into the stories of the participating breweries, exploring their brewing techniques, regional histories, and cultural traditions. This initiative aims to enrich the drinking experience by offering educational insights alongside the enjoyment of the beverages.
The foundation of this subscription service is an original story project named “MIZUNO MANIMANI,” which centers around a fictional water dragon deity and the spirits associated with Japanese breweries. An animated version of this story is also being contemplated by the company, enhancing the narrative aspect of the service. The concept for “Kokushu Seijo” emerged from a launch event in Tokyo in December 2025, which drew a crowd of approximately 5,800 attendees. A survey conducted among 511 participants revealed a significant interest in the cultural and historical aspects of Japanese sake, with more than half of the respondents favoring audio narratives by voice actors about brewery histories and production methods over character-based entertainment.
Looking to expand its reach, SAKEANI JAPAN plans to introduce this innovative service on an international scale, starting with JapanFest in Atlanta. This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to promote Japanese culture and traditional alcoholic beverages worldwide. To support this overseas expansion, SAKEANI JAPAN is in talks with various partners across distribution, media, events, and the entertainment industry.
Established in March 2026 and headquartered in Tokyo, SAKEANI JAPAN operates across multiple sectors, including event production, digital content creation, e-commerce, alcoholic beverage sales, and cultural business development. By launching “Kokushu Seijo,” the company aims to create a unique cultural experience that not only introduces people to the rich heritage of Japanese sake and shochu but also integrates storytelling as a means to deepen appreciation and understanding of these traditional drinks.
