Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral have committed to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation during a meeting held in Tokyo. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance economic development and infrastructure collaboration, emphasizing broader ties between Japan and Mongolia.
Prime Minister Takaichi expressed Japan’s interest in further developing cooperation with Mongolia, highlighting the country’s support for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific as a positive factor. In response, Prime Minister Uchral affirmed that deepening relations with Japan is a priority for Mongolia’s foreign policy, reiterating his nation’s commitment to closer collaboration.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of an agreement concerning Japan’s assistance in the expansion of Chinggis Khaan International Airport. This project aims to improve Mongolia’s international connectivity and underscores the ongoing infrastructure partnership between the two nations.
In recent years, Japan and Mongolia have strengthened their bilateral relationship, upgrading their ties in 2022 to a “special strategic partnership for peace and prosperity.” The recent meeting and agreement continue this trajectory of mutual cooperation and strategic partnership.
